Geoff Taylor established GT Embalming Service in 1980 after working with his father Robert for eight years.
Geoff's network of operators embalm in the region of 16000 cases a year, servicing London and the South of England, catering for the requirements of not only large depots, but also adĀhoc requests from funeral directors who work on a smaller scale.
In recent years the name `GT Embalming Service' has become synonymous with the production of death masks and hand casts in either plaster or metallic resins. Geoff has conducted numerous demonstrations detailing the finer aspects of this art, and offers both life and death masks as part of his portfolio.
Geoff has had over 35 years experience in all aspects of embalming, having personally embalmed in the region of 30000 cases.
Geoff qualified for membership of the British Institute of Embalmers (BIE) in 1980 going on to become president of this prestigious Institute in 1994-95. Geoff is a member of the Southern Division of the Institute, where he has held the office of Chairman, Secretary and is currently Treasurer, a position he has held since 1990.
Geoff has also been a member of The European Association of Embalmers (EAE) since its formation in the mid 1990's.
It was in 1992 that Geoff, together with two of his embalmers, Carol and Kirsty, assisted members of the Verband Deutscher Thanatologan (VDT) by giving them practical embalming tuition, so speeding their development towards becoming the first German members of the BIE.
Geoff has also traveled to the Comoros Islands and the Philippines as part of the Global Partnership Disaster Victim Identification team, dealing with the embalming aspects of plane crash victims. Geoff has also flown out to Tangiers and the Falklands to embalm cases on behalf of Rowland Brothers International, for repatriation back to England. |
